Jesus answered, “It is said, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Luke 4:12
Each of us has been put to the test – exposed to temptation which challenges our will to do the right thing. And who among us has not said “the devil made me do it” as we submit to cravings we know are bad? Temptation abounds; it always has and always will, but if we can call on the Word to guide our actions, we will pass the tests put to us.
Lent offers a great opportunity to better understand that sin rests not in the test but in our action so that we might live better and more loving lives.
