Then Jesus, filled with the power of the Spirit, returned to Galilee. Luke 4:14
No one wants to have those wilderness times. No one chooses them. And yet they come upon us from time to time. It may be something that happens at work, or in our family. Sometimes it’s just when life seems to sink to drudgery. Sometimes it’s an event in politics or a natural disaster or an accident that sends us to despair. We all go there from time to time. And yet the promise God makes is to go there with us. God doesn't leave us alone. Won’t leave us alone. Even when we’re looking the other way or trying our best to claw our own way out or feeling too hopeless even to pray. But the Spirit that filled Jesus in the wilderness is the same Spirit hoping to fill us.
