Monday, March 8, 2010 ~ Seventeenth Day of Lent

Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters. Isaiah 55:1

This poetic fragment from the Suffering Servant passages of Isaiah descends on us as a balm. The expected Messiah a Suffering Servant! Not until centuries later as Jesus hangs on a cross will the meaning unveil. “I thirst,” He said to those standing blow. Thus, God feels the physical thirst of one billion of the world’s population. The Son of Man experiences the thirsts in loneliness, desperation, pain, failure, fear. In so doing, ours is redeemed and we are reborn. We cannot live without water longer than three days; we cannot live without Living Water at all.

~ Jeanne Woodberry

Let us pray

O God, we are thirsty. Fill us, as only you can do. Amen.
