Sunday, March 21, 2010 ~ Fifth Sunday in Lent

Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? Isaiah 43:18-19

God will work in new ways we don’t expect. This thought, however, demands more of us than a simple anticipation of material benefits to burst into our lives out of the blue. To do that is to remain spiritually stagnant, to wait on God rather than journey with him. The new thing God does is not merely a new model of the same old thing, and to perceive it we must be open to a new newness, a new kind of life whose springing up is something we are called not just to observe but to join in and foster.

~ Joe Trullinger

Let us pray

Dear God, surprise us today! Amen.
