Wednesday, March 17, 2010 ~ Twenty-fifth Day of Lent

Let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead is alive again; he was lost and is found!” Luke 15:24

The Table is a place where our boundaries come undone. In the parable of the Prodigal Son, it’s a meal the father chooses where healing could take place. A meal that would allow both the younger son wrapped up in his sense of unworthiness and the older son inflated by his sense of entitlement to find their place at table.

There is something about a shared meal that opens us up to the almighty. When we share a meal, the presence of God’s Community is prefigured, revealed, and reflected. May this Lenten Season be filled with food and celebration as we welcome all to the table who have been lost and are now found.

Let us pray

Dear Lord, help us act out our thanksgiving by welcoming incuding everyone, just as you have done for us. Amen.
